Corporations, Securities & Financial Services Committee

Who We Are

The Corporations, Securities & Financial Services Committee, also known as the CSFS Committee, includes pre-eminent attorneys and scholars in corporate, securities, mergers and acquisitions, financial services and transactional law. All members of The Florida Bar, including in-house counsel, regulatory attorneys, academics, and private practitioners, as well as law school students, are welcome to participate. The practices of Committee members typically involve advising and representing business entities (including for profit and not-for-profit corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies), investors and entrepreneurs, and financial institutions (including banks, savings institutions, credit unions, mortgage companies and insurance companies). Committee members include authors of principal legal reference materials, professors at Florida’s law schools, and many of Florida’s most widely recognized private practitioners.

The centerpiece of the Committee’s activities for over two decades has been its legislative and regulatory initiatives, including restatements and major amendments of Florida’s laws governing corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies and proposals to amend securities laws. The Committee continues to monitor federal and state legislation, regulations, and judicial decisions and to advise on and develop legislative proposals.

Members of the Committee led the efforts to compile the “Report on Standards for Opinions of Florida Counsel” issued by the Business Law Section in 1991 and continue to update and expand upon the Report. The Committee also sponsors seminars each year, including the Federal Southern Securities Institute, among the preeminent securities law forums in the Southeastern United States.

The Committee meets three times per year. The Committee’s meetings typically include intense discussion of current and emerging issues in business, securities, mergers and acquisitions, financial services and transactional law, and frequently include seminars for Florida Continuing Legal Education credit to attendees.

We welcome your participation and input. If you have any questions about the Committee, or would like more information on how to become involved with the Committee, feel free to contact the Committee Chair or Vice-Chair whose e-mail addresses are above.
